If you collect as much speed skating data as we do, then it’s fun to evaluate it in a variety of ways. These statistics often give a very special impression on sports in general and speed skating in particular. On this page you will find a lot of information that cannot be found anywhere else. But the result is not intersting for the “statistic-nerds” among you, only …
The Most…
Not every athlete sets world records or similar during his career and gets known about it. However, many of these athletes participate in many many competitions. Sometimes it feels that they are since 100 years in competitions. An exact picture shows the evaluations:
- Most placements – e.g. the most placings at the all-around world championships of women
- Most victories in time – e.g. most single-track victories in the World Cup of men
- Most records – e.g. most men records in history
- Most starts – e.g. the most hard-working speed skaters with the most frequent starts at the Olympics of women
The Age…
The age is also a nice fact with statistic fact, which can be used to make evaluations. Not only journalists are always happy about statements such as “the youngest winner of all time” etc. Exactly these data provides SpeedSkatingNews here:
- Youngest winners – e.g. the youngest winner of the Olympic Games
- Oldest Winners – e.g. the oldest winner of the World Cup
- Youngest participants – e.g. the youngest participant in speed skating European Championships
- Oldest participants – e.g. the oldest participant in individual distance world championships
World Cups…
- Best World Cup result – the nobility calendar already calculates the “theoretically best all-round results” of the athletes. This calculation is applied here to the World Cup results and the best times on the individual routes were combined to a theoretical World Cup all-round result
- Most World Cup points – this is a ranking of the athletes based on the addition of all points scored in the World Cup. The sprinters are leading this statistic, because of a much higher frequency of races.
Various…
Finally, there are the evaluations that haven’t really fit into nowhere else. For example,
- Competition rinks – which rinks have hosted the most competitions in history, e.g. most World Cups
